Aims of our physiotherapy
Our central goal is to sustainably improve your quality of life: to alleviate pain, regain mobility and strengthen weak areas. We achieve this through targeted movement and strengthening exercises and detailed advice on healthy posture and ergonomic movement sequences in everyday life. We have had very good experiences with the fascial distortion model in particular.
At Wise Medicine physiotherapy in Winterthur, we also attach great importance to a trusting, cooperative partnership. We accompany you step by step on the path to greater well-being, provide helpful tips for implementation at home and motivate you to play an active role in your healing process. In this way, together we create the basis for a mobile, pain-free and vital life.
Fascia distortion model
One of our special offers - and a matter close to the heart of our physiotherapist Emmanuel Schmid - is the fascial distortion model (FDM), an innovative and at the same time very practical method. The founder of the fascial distortion model is Stephen Typaldos, an American emergency physician and osteopath. He developed the model in the 1990s after recognizing recurring patterns in his patients' complaints and body signals. The concept is based on the realization that a lot of pain and restricted movement can be caused by so-called fascial distortions - i.e. twists or adhesions of the fascia and connective tissue.
Time and again, patients at Wise Medicine Physio in Winterthur have been able to celebrate improvements and successes with the FDM. Especially people with long-standing chronic complaints and limitations.
"I am constantly amazed by the possibilities offered by the fascial distortion model. Even people who suffer from chronic pain and limitations often experience amazingly fast improvements!"
Pain gestures
During FDM treatment, we don't just look at individual muscles or joints, but at the entire fascial context of the body. Your body language, the so-called pain gestures, serves as an important guide for us: movements, gestures or postures that you instinctively show are directly related to the type of fascial distortion and guide the subsequent therapy. Targeted manual techniques are used to detect and release these incorrect tensions. The manipulations can be intensive, but often result in a noticeable improvement in mobility, circulation and pain relief after just a few sessions.
The fascial distortion model is suitable for acute complaints - such as after sports injuries or accidents - and especially for chronic, protracted or difficult-to-assign pain.
Exercises for at home
We will advise you individually and put together a home program so that you can continue the exercises you have learned at home. This is very important for a lasting effect. This self-management also strengthens your personal responsibility and helps you to act effectively on your complaints.
