Some impressive information about breastfeeding:

Breast milk always has the optimal composition

Breast milk (colostrum) is formed during the last 12 weeks of pregnancy. After birth, the hormones progesterone and prolactin start the mammary glands. As soon as the infant sucks for the first time, the milk supply begins. The mammary glands do not always produce the same milk; the composition changes as the baby grows. In the very first days of life, the baby gets colostrum, the nutrient-rich but easily digestible first milk. From about the fourth day, transitional milk is then produced, and from about the tenth day, the infant receives the mature breast milk. But its composition and quantity also change and always adapt to the baby's development and needs.

Breast milk is healthy

Breast milk is healthy, it contains all the necessary and important nutrients. Furthermore, it contains antibodies of the mother, which strengthen the baby's immune system. So they are better protected against diarrhea, flu infections and other diseases.

Breastfeeding promotes the bond between mom and baby

Breastfeeding is not only for feeding, it is also an important factor in bonding. Breastfeeding releases the "love and happiness hormone" oxytocin, which promotes the emotional bond between mother and baby. The baby gets a good dose of closeness, security and safety every time.Breastfeeding has a relaxing, calming and comforting effect on the baby. Sometimes, therefore, they want to be breastfed even when they are not hungry at all, but are confused or upset!

Breast milk for the care of irritated (mucus) skin

Breast milk can even contribute to relief when applied externally! Especially it helps with skin irritations, e.g. on the buttocks, but also with irritated eyes or a snuffy nose.

Breastfeeding is practical ... but not always problem-free

Breast milk is always and everywhere available to the child (when mom and baby are out together), costs nothing and is always at the right, comfortable temperature. Breast milk can not be under- or overdosed as with powdered mixtures. Breastfeeding is something natural and practical and can be wonderful ...

... but sometimes there are problems and challenges! For example, painful and inflamed nipples, milk engorgement, too little milk or difficulties with latching on. Breastfeeding can be very exhausting or even sheer overwhelming for the mother, especially in the first weeks and with the first child.

Here I am very happy to help with advice and action!
